I grew up reading comics, and my first dream was to become a comic illustrator. Before I ever succeeded in finishing reading my first fiction book, I had consumed hundreds and hundreds of pages of comics, including Marvel favourites, Spider-Man, Captain America and Luke Cage, as well as the Beano, Eagle comic, and most significantly, the British weekly comic, 2000AD, which would shape how I understood and appreciated comic storytelling. Later, I would follow the careers of Alan Moore, discover Dave McKean, followed by Mattotti, Toppi, Moebius, but before all that I was consumed by Judge Dredd, Rogue Trooper, Nemesis and Strontium Dog.
