A Song Of Sun And Sky
A Song Of Sun And Sky came about because of my lifelong love of Georgia O’Keeffe’s artwork, which I first came across when wandering my local library, specifically the art shelves, which boasted many lavish books showcasing the work of male artists, Pollock and Rothko, Singer Sargent and Picasso, but only two collections by women artists. The first was Cindy Sherman. The other was O’Keeffe.

Written with no sense that a publisher would ever be brave enough to publish it, I was therefore very happily surprised when Laura Godwin at Henry Holt bought it. I had planned to travel to New Mexico to research the book and enjoy the various locations O’Keeffe painted, not to mention her home and studio; a plan that was unfortunately abandoned because of the coronavirus pandemic.
